LIFE DRAWING STUDIO
Nude Model, no instructor. Gestures, long & short poses.

JUDITH FINCH—PORTRAIT DRAWING & PAINTING FROM THE MODEL
All mediums welcome, however the demonstrations will be given in charcoal and oils, showing a non toxic method of painting. Beginners will use charcoal and contée for the first several weeks. Practice gesture, contour, weight and modeled
drawing, followed by using colour. Practice colour mixing using a limited palette. Develop sculptural form, interesting shadows and accentuate character within each portrait.
Bring images from magazines and photos you find inspiring and bring your camera for shooting portraits in class. Monday afternoons: 1:00—4:00

The costumed model is loaded with possibilities for artistic exploration: shape, drape, texture and pattern and their interplay with the human form providing rich source material. Engage with artistic concerns such as representation, value patterning, colour
systems and composition. Expand and extend your artistic explorations into issues of narrative,
abstraction and personal expression.
No solvents permitted.
