Image specifications

For this exhibition, you may enter 1 or 2 images (included in the entry fee).

Images must meet the following specifications.

  1. Must be in jpg format (jpg or jpeg) and at least 1 MB, and less than 2 MB.

  2. Only the image of your artwork should show (no frames or extra backgrounds)

  3. The image should be the best resolution you can achieve with a minimum of 800 pixels on one side and submitted in jpeg format.

Please make sure your files are sized properly.

The image file names should be your last name_initial_title of artwork_medium_size in inches shown as height x width.jpg

Example:  Smith_J_Black_Velvet_oil_on_canvas_24Hx36W.jpg

For sculptural work the size should be specified as HxWxD  but D-Depth is only required for 3-D work.

Display Requirements

2D Artwork:

Hanging System: All 2D works must be framed and suitably wired for hanging on our rod and clamp system.

Works on Canvas: Canvas wrapped stretcher frames are acceptable.

Size: The maximum width of work for this exhibition will be 48”.

Glass vs. Plexiglas:   Plexiglas must be used in place of glass if any side dimension exceeds 40 inches. Artists must identify on the front of the art work if Plexiglas has been used.

Wiring:

  • Please ensure that framed works are securely mounted in the frame.

  • A sufficient gauge of wire and screw eyes for the weight of the art work must be used. Triple strand wire is best but double strand may be used on smaller, lighter works. Single strand wire or wire substitutes will not be accepted as they do not stand up to the necessary handling.

  • The ends of the wire must be covered with masking tape or equivalent, to ensure there is no potential for injury during the frame check, carrying and hanging process.

  • Each artwork must have rings or screw eyes on both sides at the back of the frame/canvas, with the wire (in its hung position) at least 3" below the top of the frame (so that the clamp will not show). If the piece is larger, please aim to have the wire sit 1/3 from the top.

Unframed Artwork

  • Textile works must have a sleeve at the top of the artwork for a support rod to go through.

  • If the work is deemed fragile, the artist will need to sign a waiver upon check in.

  • The artist must provide the hanging equipment for any unframed artwork.

3D Artwork

3D artwork that cannot hang on the wall must fit easily into one of the small NPCC sculpture stands. Each piece must be individually pre-approved for entry.
