EAG's 57th Juried Exhibition at the Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery

April 2 to May 1, 2025

This is EAG's premier show of the year. Cash prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Three Honourable Mentions were also chosen by the jurors.

We thank our jurors, Judy Daley and Glenn Chadwick, for their patient and thoughtful survey of the work and their interest in  our artists.

Congratulations to our prize winners:

First Prize: Karen Morgan, 'Peace is a Given', acrylic

Jurors' comment: This bold and colourful composition speaks to our current moment as a nation and seems to suggest we should look for what we have in common rather than what divides us.

Second Prize: Stuart Godfrey, 'Amalia Beach, Portugal', acrylic

Jurors' comment:  A wonderfully composed work evoking a dramatic vista.  Excellent technique and use of atmospheric perspective.

Third Prize: Valerie Jane Geard, 'Fragility' and 'Friday Market Bouquet', artist books

Jurors' comment:  Very creative use of the handmade book format incorporating intimate and appealing etchings and embossings.

Honourable Mention: Paul McCusker, 'Canada Day', acrylic

Jurors' comment:  We were drawn to the skillful treatment of light and form in this portrait in addition to its topical symbolism of wrapping yourself in the flag.

Honourable Mention: Cherie Rahkola, 'The Eyes Have It 2/3'; analog collage

Jurors' comment: Influenced by the tradition of surrealist collage, the artist has created a thought provoking work with rhythmic composition.

Honourable Mention: Jennifer Conron, "Lakeshore Biking', acrylic

Jurors' comment: Excellent handling of colour and light within a challenging square format.

Final Pick Up at close of exhibition: Friday May 2, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
